Friday Round Up

Friday. There’s only so many Friday’s left this year, so lets make this one a good one. Here are some thoughts to send you roaring into the weekend.

  • Congrats to Jeanine on SYTYCD. Two great things happened last night. That bastard Evan got third, and Jeanine won. We Birds think Brandon was the better dancer, noticeably better even, but Jeanine stole our (my) heart. Seriously Jeanine, lets get together and do stuff. But wear shoes.
  • Do you think dancers have all sorts of weird dance term/sex term cross over? Like the hand jive or kick ball change or whatever? I imagine if I was a dancer I would say that kind of stuff all the time.
  • I know I’ve said it before, but if you’re a band, please start giving yourself names I don’t have to be embarrassed to tell other people.
  • More and more I find myself hating to go to restaurants for the first time that involve some sort of unwritten code. The ones where everything is hip and you can have a specific order. I don’t want to go in like some rube and make an asshole of myself.
  • NFL Training Camps kicked into high gear this week, on a related note, ESPN… I was gonna make some gross sexual reference but it didn’t seem appropriate at all. I felt dirty. ESPN LOOOOOOOOOVES football though.
  • Ghostbusters 3 is my most anticipated movie ever.
  • Have you ever had someone come up to tell you a joke? Like, not a funny story or something that happened to them. A joke. It’s the most awkward experience for me. Usually, I’m in the middle of something, so I have to stop and pay attention to them. Then, I have to sit there and nod and smile throughout to be polite. Then, when its over I have to laugh. Well, I rarely ever find jokes laugh-out-loud funny, so its always forced. Then I have to judge how much to laugh, how long. It’s horrible. What was I supposed to do? Spray milk out my nose?
  • Special congratulations to regular readers/commenters Dan & Sarah on their wedding this weekend.
  • I finally broke down and tried coffee for the first time today and I’m terrified of being too cliché.
  • For some reason my iGoogle has all sorts of things that must have been picked solely for street cred. Seriously, I have “Art of the Day”… I hate classic art. There’s no reason that should greet me on the homepage, unless I was trying to impress someone. You be the judge.
  • I love baseball. It’s my favorite sport. I couldn’t be more tired of it right now. Probably because my team is god awful.
  • Dear Stephanie Meyer (author of Twilight), I hate that you’re one of the top selling authors ever for writing about vampires. Disgusting. If you need a co-author for the next one, call me.
  • I hate not knowing how to play guitar, banjo or piano.

As always, comments welcomed and encouraged. It’s Friday? What else do you have to do? Give us a good rant.
