- Add Taco Seasoning and one cup of water, reduce to low heat and bring to simmer. This will ensure the intensity of the flavor molecules properly bonds with the taste-receptors of the 80/20 lean ground beef
- Simmer meat for 15 minutes
- As meat simmers, proactively engage meal-mates in preparing the other taste-components (pre-shredded cheese, pre-shredded lettuce, Taco Sauce, flour tortilla shells). Active engagement creates energized supper stakeholders who draw greater satisfaction from increased involvement.
- Drain excess grease and water from cooked 80/20 lean ground beef. Please see above note for proper drainage/storage protocol.
- Warm flour tortillas in standard microwave. We recommend a formula of 10 seconds for every one tortilla. This heat-ratio will generate optimum ingredient containment.

I support this taco recipe (even though you left out the vital sour cream AND did not suggest entertainment ideas for those who have to eat dinner alone because they are really awesome, but that is neither here nor there), but now I’m wondering something else. You “recommend that drained grease be placed in a vacated coffee tin” to prevent household pipe congestion.
You mean to tell me that you’re supposed to dump that stuff? This concept confuses me. Where I grew up, the mothers of my friends used the Tin Can contents over and OVER again. Dump a little into that gravy, dump a little to fry that chicken. Dump the leftovers back in for later use. I never fathomed that the coffee tin was to be used as a vessel for disposal. Never. I suddenly see the world in a different way, and also wonder how I survived my childhood in the Ozarks without some type of severe food poisoning.
Note: my family did NOT engage in anything grease/tin can related. My Mom made me eat whole wheat pasta and quinoa. Therapy has helped me learn to forgive my mother, but we’ll never be the same.
WOW. “Active mastication of properly prepared nourishment nodes will activate pleasure receptors and create an ideal smiling environment.” Too funny. I also liked your recommendation of lubricant to avoid “meat-adherence.” Well done.
And Lindsay…you focus on the freaking coffee tin part of that masterpiece? Not cool.
